The DHI Ballast Water Centre has test facilities in Denmark and in Singapore.
DHI Maritime Technology Evaluation Facility – Denmark
The facility conducts land-based full scale biological evaluations of maritime technologies. Due to the unique location of the test facility, high quality test water is readily available from natural sources of freshwater, brackish and high saline seawater, which implies high flexibility in the selection of two salinities of test water as required in the G8 guideline published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The test facility comprises six ballast retention tanks of 250 m3 each and one reservoir tank of 750 m3. Testing can be conducted from beginning of March to end of November
We offer pilot tests, land-based tests and shipboard tests of Ballast Water Management Systems as well as continuous filter performance tests with variable TSS loadings.
DHI Land-Based Test Facility - Singapore
The ballast water test facility in Singapore is the first of its kind in a tropical climate. It offers fast and easy access to test labs in full compliance with the guidelines set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The test facility comprises three tanks with a total volume of 1050 m3 and access to ambient sources of freshwater, brackish water and high saline water. Testing can be conducted during all seasons.
At the test facility we offer onshore testing and full scale biological evaluations of maritime technologies.
